Killmurray, who died Sunday after a courageous battle with brain cancer, the township said Monday afternoon in a community notification.Viewing will be Wednesday, April 11, from 3 to 7 p.m. at St. Cecilia’s R.C. Church, 10 Kingston Lane, Monmouth Junction.Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 12, at St. Cecilia’s.Burial will follow in the Holy Cross Burial Park.OBITUARY: Christopher J. "He was known around the state as a relentless supporter of police and law enforcement safety. His work and impact will be felt for generations.”Killmurray, 55, died Sunday morning at home surrounded by his family, Township Manager Bernard Hvozdovic said.Killmurray was unanimously appointed the acting mayor last April after the death of the town's longest-serving mayor, Frank Gambatese, in March 2017. He was elected to a full term in November.Killmurray lived a life of public service. He was first elected as a councilman in 2003, serving until his appointment as mayor to finish Gambatese's term. He was elected by the residents five times to serve on the governing body.Killmurray fully embraced the significance of public service as a true calling and profoundly affected the lives of many residents, Hvozdovic said.An advocate for the South Brunswick Township Library, Kilmurray served on its Board of Trustees.
